A stunning half geode with an incredible amethyst and overlaid calcite formation at the bottom. The interior of the piece is a very deep cavity which presents very high-quality amethyst due to its deep purple and high peaked crystals. A further calcite formation lies at the bottom of the piece, which is overlaid with black hematite and white quartz. Calcite formation on amethyst is relatively rare, owing to different formation temperatures required for the two minerals. The polished edges of the formation reveal the green celadonite, grey agate and the aesthetic is sealed with a smattering of sparkling white quartz crystals. These minerals frame and intensify the vibrant deep purple colour. The back of the piece maintains its rough basalt condition allowing us to imagine how this was spotted and formed inside the cavities of volcanic rock millions of years ago. This stunning piece its very decorative for its shape, size and mix of colours, and is well is displayed on a custom metal stand
